One Love Golf Tournament

Camp was officially over yesterday afternoon but today is a very special day for Camp Quality Ozarks.

Kelly Jo Brookshire found out about Camp Quality while she was a senior at JHS. Through FBLA she came out and volunteered at our camp and fell in love with all the children. She couldn't wait to become a volunteer at Camp Quality when she was old enough. Unfortunately, Kelly didn't know she was soon to face her own battle with cancer. Kelly Jo Brookshire lost her battle with cancer on Dec. 19, 2004.

In honor of Kelly and the wonderful things she wanted to do for Camp Quality, her family started the One Love Golf Tournament. This is the third year for the golf tournament and it is today!! All proceeds go to Camp Quality Ozarks.

Come out and support us today and the things Kelly would have done if she were still with us today.

One love had to turn down teams this year and that in itself speaks for the wonderful generosity of our community.

If you would like to know more about Kelly Jo Brookshire and One Love please visit their website at http://onelovetourney.com/home.

Thank you SOOO much to the family of Kelly Jo Brookshire and everyone who has put together One Love Golf Tournament. We are so grateful for you and the money you raise to send kids with cancer to camp so they can be kids again!

Wednesday-CQs Got Talent!

Yesterday was the talent show and camper/companions were busy at work preparing for the event. Wednesday was another fun filled day. In the morning, we had ping pong tic tac toe for our Minute to Win It and Sylvia and Mary won! Then we moved on to swimming and playing with our special guest all afternoon. Finally, we ended our day swimming and playing peppermint tag! Maisie and Cathi were the winners of that game and are now holding the trophy until Thursday's event.

Did I mention we did our tradition of tie-dye shirts!!

We have some great video footage of the talent show I will post later today. We have some talented camper and companions!

Tuesday's Activities

This morning started off great with some yummy breakfast burritos, hash browns and fruit. This got us fueled up for our first Minute To Win It of the day which was "Noodling Around" and then we were off to play in the fire hose provided by Reddings Mill Fire Dept.

After finishing up with an impromptu softball game and football game we headed up to the lodge for the best Frito Chili Pie! Yum!

Of course swimming was on the top of the list of things to do after horizontal rest time and we just finished up with our evening Minute To Win It, "Worm Diving!"

A Mexican supper is going to be provided by Bebe and Amber. We can't wait! It smells delicious.

After supper we have a Fear Factor event planned and a movie under the stars to finish up our Terrific Tuesday!

Special Guest Speaker

Yesterday we had a special guest speaker, Joseph Machado. Joseph is a special young man who is 13 years old and decided to bike from California to Washington DC to raise money to support kids and families. Joseph's mission was to:
þ Raising money for charities
þ Giving hope to youths across America
þ Encouraging youths to help their communities

He began his journey on June 5, 2010 and it took him 39 days but HE DID IT!!!!

Young Professionals Network Rocks!

Last night we had the Young Professionals Network from the Joplin Chamber put on "The Amazing Race" for us and words can not express how AWESOME it was! We will let the pictures do the talking!
The kids had a fantastic time running all over the camp grounds finding clues and completing the missions. The end of the night was completed with a Hawaiian Luau and ice cream!
